Darren Percival - Bio
Darren Percival is more than just a singer, he reflects a reputation not just as one of Australia’s most accomplished entertainers but also a Gold album selling recording artist, gifted musician, dynamic radio presenter and vocal coach.
His voice is warm and powerful. Audiences are mesmerized by his stage presence, his original music and his charm. He delivers astonishing performances and he is a gifted vocalist with natural talent, imagination and skill.
He’s been artistically inspired since a young age and during high school while studying piano, singing and acting at a performing arts center in his hometown of Sydney. By the time he had graduated in 1989, Australian jazz icon James Morrison had discovered Darren and together they began a decade of musical adventures.
Through his career, Darren’s dulcet tones have featured on numerous recordings, jingles and voice-overs. He’s toured as a backing singer, and you’ll find him on the album credits for many other well-known Australian artists.
Darren’s released several solo albums of original music, including his incredible vocal looping. He has worked the music festival circuit and corporate arena since 2004 as Mr. Percival with his inspiring projects ‘Out Of The Loop’ and ‘Microphones’.
More recently, Darren lit up millions of TV screens with his soul stirring performances on the first season of The Voice Australia, where he was coached by Keith Urban and became the 2012 runner up. His album ‘Happy Home’ debuted at number 3 on the ARIA chart and went Gold. Since, Darren has been selling out his national tours.
Darren and his wife Amanda currently live with their two children on the Sunshine Coast, where he just completed a one year contract presenting his own radio program Up Close & Percival for EON Broadcasters that earned him an ACRA nomination for Best Newcomer On Air Provincial. Away from the microphone he enjoys reading, cooking, painting and playing tennis.
Currently enthralled with writing and recording his own music, producing other artists and touring, Darren is also creating spaces for singing with children and adults, bringing inspiration and harmony to change the way people think about their own voices and the power of singing together.
